The way to end piracy is to administer swift retribution.

The Ruskies almost got it right.

They should have manacled the dead bodies to the living pirates and thrown them all overboard for the sharks.

Put one or two in a lifeboat where they can be witness to the fun–up close and personal–and live to tell the cautionary tale.

Note to Obama: no need for Miranda or NYC trials.

The Russians are clearly uncivilized and barbaric animals and few white boys driven by isolation and neo-nazi views and behavour are backing this cold blooded killings instead of thinking rational.

Russia was never a super power and will never be it can always bully small nations but even the Chinese have surpassed them, the Chinese dont come to kill few Somali fishermen instead they come to build roads, proper fishing facilities and empower communities and show them other ways to earn an income.

The Russians who are uncivil behave like the drunk head they are.

They can be angry and drunk all they want but like all issues they never resolved they are not the solution for the pirates — a greek ship has been already taken.

The Greeks will not act like the Russians they will find a solution, a civil one and Somalis are ready to resolve the issue.

Poor vodka addicts.

The French loose way more money in soft military actions/presence against pirates than what they loose with the hijacked ships…

The Russian way is the most cost-effective

"Everyone else in the world follows rules and systems…"

Really?

The last Superpower on this planet (U.S. America) acts no differently than the former Superpower that is Russia.

Your comment would be indicative of less ignorance if you acknowledged that those with power do what they please.

There is no international body strong enough to control the actions of the powerful because people like you are drowning in ignorance; unable to rise up enough to challenge them all.

It's so funny to read this whining from a confessed pirate about unfairness on the high seas…

And he didn't even bother explaining how the oil tanker passing 350 miles off the coast of Somalia interferes with the "fishing" and what hijacking such tanker has to do with "simply wanting foreign ships to stop overfishing in our waters,".

And obviously the race card…

It's so clear now!

Of course, the poor defenseless pirate victims were targeted by racist Russian commandos just because they are black.

The attack had nothing to do with those pirate hijacking the oil tanker earlier and threatening lives of the crew…

well done!

The pirates got what they had deserved.

I hope the rest of their collegues and their supporters will follow.

And stop that stupid talk about the alleged discrimination.

You are not exempt from retribution even if you claim to be because of your dark skin.

The political correctness is nor popular here in Russia.

Pirates are not solgiers, as a such.

So, Kayse, read books.

Unfortunately Greekc will not reac as russians did.

And on this reason pirates will continue to capture ships.

If all countries reacted the way russians did all piracy ended in one week.

The funny thing: pirates violate law (or there is no law at all) but they still want others to deal with them in a good, proper, frendly manner.

Good luck!

Americans are way ahead and civil than the Russians and who said Russians are super power?

You only have few rusted nukes so does Pakistan, North Korea and possibly Iran.

It is an insult to compare USA with Vodkasia (Russia).

Everyone will agree and watch our the Western media and intellectuals all attack Russia over this incident now because its just uncivil and shows Russia doesnt have legal system, every thing is by AK47 and Vodka bottle.

Not true, the piracy will not be ended with this sort of action because the final solution lays with the Somalis and on shore.

Russians lost the cold war and every other thing, what would you know?

Attacking the ships, capturing crews of the trading ships, killing in what not guilty people, the Somali pirates still wish to hope for any mercy?

With ugly creatures trading in piracy it is necessary to arrive accordingly: to hang up on yards or to feed with them sharks.

"Live by the sword, die by the sword".

The pirates are criminal gangs preying upon international shipping and each country has the right to fight these criminals with every means at their disposal.

I find no fault with the Russian response – the pirates brought it on themselves.

To the Somali apologists for the pirates, I say "grow up, the pirates are not romantic Robin Hoods, but criminal gangs controlled from by fatcat money-men based in Puntland which use their ill-gotten gains to fund terrorism, anarchy and tribalism thoughout Somalia, Somaliland and Ethiopia.

I only wish that the fatcats would be similarly dealt with instead of these ignorant and mislead nomads that are seduced by dreams of easy money.

All the other international navies present in the Indian Ocean should take their lead from the Russians and the French and deal with these pirates equally severley.

Maybe then the scourge can be brought to an end.

Kayse, what you talk is unlawful, it calls racism.

You do not have any real knowledge of Russia.

At all.

What you write is a propaganda.

For example: Finland and Poland are highly drinking countries.

Btw, I think your roots are in one of these countries.

And do not say "our western", just because not everyone on west agree with you.

Somalis do not support piracy nor do they act this way, tell us how many hostages did they take and how many were even wounded forget killing?

ZERO.

The worst case is the British couples and Somalis continue to rally for their immediate release, all over UK, Somalia, Somaliland and even the Islamists are searching for them.

It's very shameful to the Somalis to capture old people and we wish we could do something about it, but, what the Russians did is even worse to kill unarmed hostages then dumb them in the ocean and lie and say we released them.

This is not about Somalis but when will Russia grow up and learn to act civil and take responsibility they lie about every thing.

When your sons are blown up in so called "submarine accidents" they lie, when chemicals blow up and thousands die they lie.

When terrorists take hostages of Russians they lie.

Russia is just sad and lying story.

Thats what makes us more sad.

Yes, it is national hobby of russian navy to catch yemeni yebeni fishermen, undress them fully and stole their underwear.

They do that because they like to see nude yemeni fishermen in their boats.

On this particular reason all yemeni fishermen are naked already by this moment.

Somalilander, Google search Somalia and hostages.

There are countless accounts of Somalia hostages being taken.

Remember the US hostages taken at sea April last year?

All but 1 of the pirates were killed.

Are the US Navy uncivilized and barbaric animals?

You are a moron!

If you and your people weren't such freakin savages, maybe Russia would have had some compassion.

Maybe eliminating these sub-humans was showing compassion to the rest of the world!

Somalilander, you miss one simple point – Russians did not "kill unarmed hostages" they killed pirates who attempted to hijack a vessel.

The fact that historically the pirates did not kill any hostages does not mean that the pirates should be treated well when captured.

You sound like the pirates have the right to hijack the ships and we should all be grateful that they are not harming the hostages.

Well, it's not the case.

We will be defending ourselves against pirates and whoever embarks on a journey to try and hijack the ship should not be surprised to end up feeding fishes.

You write – "This is not about Somalis but when will Russia grow up and learn to act civil and take responsibility" – are you serious?

How is it not about Somalis when Somalis first attacked and seized russian oil tanker?

They made it "about Somalis", not Russians.

And if you advocate for "acting civil and taking responsibility" – why not start with Somalis?

Is pirating, hijacking and extorting ransoms a "civil act" ?

I think not.

I still just wondering of one simple thing: you said "Russian navy shoot them and them put their dead bodies to vessel".

My question is very simple: how do you know Russians did if there is no vwitness at all?

Who did tell you those details?

Whom did you get information from?

Who can prove it?

Can anyone?

It doesn t matter how few hostages they have killed since that piracy started, they are hijacking ships with firearms and WE know what their plot is: to greatly undermine the European/Asian activities around Africa, to cause them economical loss in commercial transport and in military by the sending of a high-cost permanent force which is soft with the pirates and won't discourage them.

Pirates got what they deserve.

russian navi kicked their ass and let them go in their boat, freely.

It is pirate’s responcibility to find coastline nearby and it is their problem what land is 350 miles away.

It is so funny to read what oil tanker, “disrupt somalian fishermen” beeing almost in the middle of Indial Ocean it is even funnier to hear how some looser pirate whining about “bad Russia” kicked his butt.

Go grow some chicken, pirate, and NEVER EVEN THINK TO COME CLOSE RUSSIAN SHIPS or you’ll be feed to sharks in no time.

Kudos, Russians!

Do it again!
